CLIENT SERVER MODE

The server is a computer system that provides certain services in a computer network. Server is supported with processors that are scalable and large RAM, also equipped with a special operating system, called the network operating system or network operating system. Server is also running administrative software that controls access to networks and resources contained in it, like a file or display devices (printers), and provide access to a workstation network members.
Generally, the top server operating systems are applications that use the architecture of client / server. Examples of this application is a DHCP Server, Mail Server, HTTP Server, FTP Server, DNS Server and so on. Each server operating systems generally bundle of services or service can also be obtained from third parties. Each service will respond to requests from clients. For example, the DHCP client will give the request to the server running the DHCP server; when a client needs an IP address, the client will give the command / request to the server, the language understood by the DHCP server, the DHCP protocol itself.
Examples of server operating system is Windows NT 3.51, and continued with the Windows NT 4.0. We have a fairly popular system is Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003, and Sun Solaris, Unix, and GNU / Linux.
Server is usually connected to the client with UTP cable and a Network Card. This network card is usually a PCI or ISA cards.
Servers so many functions, such as for Internet sites, science, or just data storage. But the most common is the client computer to connect to the Internet

Client-server

Client-server or client-server is a paradigm in which information teknologo refers to a way to distribute applications to the two parties: the client and the server.
In the model of client / server, an application is divided into two separate parts, but still is a component unit of the client and server components. Client components are also often referred to as the front-end, while the server component is called the back-end. The client component of the application is run in a workstation and receive input data from the user. The client component will prepare the data entered by the user using a particular processing technology and sent to the server components that run on the server machine, usually in the form of requests for some services that are owned by the server. Server component will receive a request from the client, and immediately process it and return the results of such processing to the client. Clients also receive information processing is done server data and display it to users, using applications that interact with the user.
An example of the application client / server is simply designed web applications using Active Server Pages (ASP) or PHP. PHP or ASP scripts will run on the web server (Apache or Internet Information Services), while the script is running on the client will be executed by the web browser on the client computer. Client-Server is a software solution to the problem of using a computer database so that each does not need to install a database, a method of client-server database can be installed on a computer as a server and client application is installed on.
