SERVER
The server is a computer system that provides certain services in a computer network. Server is supported with processors that are scalable and large RAM, also equipped with a special operating system, called the network operating system or network operating system. Server is also running administrative software that controls access to networks and resources contained in it, like a file or display devices (printers), and provide access to a workstation network members.
Generally, the top server operating systems are applications that use the architecture of client / server. Examples of this application is a DHCP Server, Mail Server, HTTP Server, FTP Server, DNS Server and so on. Each server operating systems generally bundle of services or service can also be obtained from third parties. Each service will respond to requests from clients. For example, the DHCP client will give the request to the server running the DHCP server; when a client needs an IP address, the client will give the command / request to the server, the language understood by the DHCP server, the DHCP protocol itself.
Examples of server operating system is Windows NT 3.51, and continued with the Windows NT 4.0. We have a fairly popular system is Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003, and Sun Solaris, Unix, and GNU / Linux.

Server is usually connected to the client with UTP cable and a network card. This network card is usually a PCI or ISA card.
Servers so many functions, such as for Internet sites, science, or just data storage. But the most common is the client computer to connect to the Internet.
The server is a computer that managed the center for computer and other. Therefore, the server computer must have a higher specification than the client-clientnya. Also the server has different types, which include:
1. Samba server
2. FTP server
3. DNS servers
4. Web Servers
5. Mail servers
6. Proxy Server
1. Samba (server message block) is a protocol file sharing and printer sharing to compete with the existing protocols of Novell's IPX-based. SMB is a protocol file sharing and printer sharing can be the first to run on multiple protocols: TCP / IP, NetBEUI, IPX / SPX. In other words, the SMB server can replace the position Novell server without having to change the infrastructure of the network.
2. File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a protocol that serves for the exchange of files in a network that uses TCP rather than UDP connections.
Two things are important in the FTP is an FTP Server and FTP Client.
FTP server is a server that runs software that works to provide exchange services where the server files are always ready to provide FTP service on receiving a request (request) from an FTP client.
FTP client computer that is requesting a connection to the FTP server for file exchange purpose. Once connected to the FTP server, the client can download, upload, merename, to delete, etc. in accordance with permissions granted by the FTP server.
The purpose of the FTP server is as follows:
• For the purpose of data sharing
• To provide implicit indirect or remote computer
• To provide storage for user
• To provide reliable data transfer and efficient
3. Domain Name System (DNS) is an application service on the Internet that translates a domain name to IP address and one type of system that serves the request to IP address mapping FQPN (Fany Qualified Domain Name) and the FQDN to IP address. DNS is usually used in applications related to the Internet Web Browser sererti or e-mail, Where is the control to help map the host name of a computer to the IP address. Besides being used in the Internet control can also be implemented to a private network or the Internet.
FUNCTION control
A. Framework Regulation controversy delivery using the advantages of DNS records, known as TXT records.
B. Provides flexibility for computer failure, some DNS servers to provide protection for each domain. More precisely, the thirteen root servers (root server) is used by the whole world.
ADVANTAGES control
1. DNS is easy to implement the protocol in the TCP / IP
2. DNS servers in easily to configure (for admin)
3. Users no longer bother to remember the IP address
LACK control
1. Control is not easy to implemented
2. Inconsistent
3. No bias caused many domain name.
4. Web Server is a server software that functions accept
HTTP or HTTPS requests from clients which is known as a web browser and
sends back the results in the form of web pages that are generally
form of an HTML document. One of the popular web server on linux is
Apache. Apache is a cross-platform web server that can run on
some platforms such as linux and windows. Web Server is also a

Internet, then you must have the first room on the Internet,
and the room is provided by the server.
5. Mail servers are used to transfer e-mail on TCP / IP network or can be called a software program that distributes files or information in response to a request sent via email, are also used in Bitnet to provide similar services is a server FTP.Mail most important tool in making webmail on which the mail database in

6. Proxy server is a server computer or a computer program that can act as another computer to make requests for content from the Internet or intranet.
Proxy Server acts as a gateway to the world of the Internet for each client computer. Proxy server is invisible to the client computer: a user who interacts with the Internet through a proxy server will not know that a proxy server to handle requests were done. Web server that receives requests from the proxy server will interpret the request, the request as if the request came directly from the client computer, instead of the proxy server.
Proxy servers can also be used to secure private network that is connected to a public network (such as the internet). Proxy servers have more functions than the router has packet filtering features because proxy servers operate at a higher level and have a more comprehensive control of network access. Proxy server that serves as a "security agent" for a private network, commonly known as a firewall
